
Hi, I’m Sam Tan – chef by trade, artist at heart.
For 17 years, I’ve run a word-of-mouth catering business out of whatever tiny kitchen I could afford, from London to New York to LA. No restaurant, no investors, half the time, no counter space! Just recipes that had to work — because my rent depended on it.
I’m an actor, writer/director and former professional dancer, but what’s kept me alive through it all, is cooking. I left Malaysia with zero cooking skills but taught myself fast. A little blog turned into cake orders, then catering gigs, and since then I’ve been feeding people for a living.
Along the way, customers became friends, and food became my conduit to connection.
Now I’m sharing the recipes that built my life: Malaysian classics from my childhood, the baking that started it all, and global comfort food that carried me across three continents.
You don’t need a fancy kitchen or culinary degree. I’m living proof.
